It was wonderful to spend time with our alumni and friends during this year’s Mayville State gatherings in Arizona. I look forward to these annual events each year, and I’m continually reminded of how strong and devoted our Comet family truly is. Whether a person has been part of Mayville State for decades or they’re a more recent graduate, the pride our alumni and friends carry for our institution shines through in every conversation.
We’re celebrating an extraordinary Comet connection to statewide excellence in K-12 leadership! Jason Schwabe (‘92) of Thompson has been named the 2026 North Dakota Association of Secondary School Principals (NDASSP) Principal of the Year.
Another all-time Mayville State enrollment record has been set! Census day, when final official enrollment numbers are reported, was Monday, Feb. 9, and I’m thrilled to say that Spring Semester 2026 FTE (Full Time Equivalent) has increased by 3.07% over Spring 2025, and 10.76% over the Spring of 2024. Generally, FTE includes students who live on campus and in the community and support our restaurants, gas stations, and businesses. Official headcount for Spring 2026 is 1,112, just over a three percent increase over Spring 2025, and a nearly 17% increase over Spring 2024.
