Mike Carr has been named head women’s and men’s golf coach at Mayville State University. Carr’s duties in this position will begin August 1, 2026. He is committed to providing collegiate golfers with exceptional athletic and academic experiences, while maintaining a people-first approach.
Carr has more than 25 years of experience in managing personnel and logistics, with a strong focus on mentorship, accountability, and performance. He is a member of the Comet Athletic Club board and served as president of the organization from 2019 to 2026. He was a board member at the Mayville Golf Club from 2015 to 2024, and he served on the Mayville City Council from 2010 to 2014 and 2016 to 2022.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mike Carr as our head golf coach,” said Mayville State University President Dr. Brian Van Horn. “For many years, Mike has demonstrated exceptional commitment to Mayville State and the Mayville-Portland community through his service and leadership. He will be an outstanding coach and mentor, and we know he will be a positive influence for our student athletes and the Comets golf program.”
In addition to his dedication to Mayville State through his work with the Comet Athletic Club, Mike has served as the announcer for home football, basketball, and volleyball games for several years.
